I don't have a problem really with the time! Of course I am in middle school! Once I get to high school I might need more time! What about if we talk about the high school free time changing because they have a bigger school! With all the middle schools I've been to through CRASC, all the middle school seem the same size! I know from being around Glen burnie High it is a lot bigger! So maybe we should address that!What does everyone else think!?Did or does anyone have trouble getting around your school in middle school?

Yes, because the intersection of B-hall and D-hall at my school is where most kids get stuck in or have major issues. I think it would be best that more time is allotted for people with lockers in the crowded halls or people who are on one side of the school and have to go on the other.

it wouldn't make sense to allow some students more time and not others. when would class start? i do agree that we need more time, though. i don't even use my locker, and sometimes i have to rush if i'm trying to get to the art hall from the social studies hall.

Well, four minutes is a long time. But, you have a lot to do. You have to get form wherever you are to your next class, not even including if you need to make a visit to your locker or the restroom, or if a teacher holds you after. At my school, we can only go to our lockers before school, after school and after first period, which makes me late for second period all the time. My pricipal complains about the tardiness, but won't let us go to our lockers at a time where it's not as much of a big deal to be late (such as lunch). I mean it's not ok to always be late, but lunch isn't an instructional period.

I go to Southern Middle School and this year we had the tracys elementary school move into our school because they are renovating. The principle has told us that we have to use certain stairways so we dont disturb them and we have to walk half way around the school just to get to our lockers and when we are late to class we get lunch detention. I dont think it is fair.

I go to Severna Park Middle and i'm sorry, but 4 minutes between classes is not a reasonable amount of time to go to our lockers, go to the bathroom, and still get to class on time! The board either needs to give us more time beetween classes, or the school needs to make our schedules so thet we can do everything in 4 minutes. Personally, i think that the former is much esier, and less time consuming. we have one hall at the front of the building that runs paralell to one in the back, in beetween, we have three, paralell to eachother, going the opposite direction as the other two. I have to first stop at my locker in the middle hall of the three(b hall) then go to the next hall over (a hall) to the extreme corner of the building. My 2nd block class is at the other extreme corner of the building. I can barely walk there and be on time, let alone stop at my locker. Teachers hate it when we have to carry our book bags around, and carrying a huge stack of books is just the same, they get in the way of the isles and cause a hazard of people tripping over them. If the transition periods are longer, classrooms will be safer, and students will be happier!

My school(Corkran Middle) is the same way! I just switched my binders! I have all my classes in one binder, and a folder for most of my electives! It is a lot easier! We are not allowed to go to our locker after 1st period, so that makes sure we are on time to class for 2nd! It is a lot easier to have one binder! My friend does it too, and he doesn't even us his locker for books! There are other solutions to the book situation!There are solutions to [u]almost[/u] everything!

the nice thing about high school is that you are aloud to carry a backpack around. however, teachers sometimes won't let you go to the bathroom during class because they expect a "responsible" student to use the restroom in between classes. that's just ridiculous. i don't know if all the high schools are the same way, but at severna park it's like trying to make your way through a slow-moving horde of antelope, or whatever animal moves in hordes. it's patently false to believe we have more than enough time in between classes.

I also go to Severna Park Middle and there's a reason I made this topic so I can see if I can expand the time length between classes to say. 6-7 minutes, which is enough. My friends tell me not to rush or walk like Speedy Gonzales, but I think we need more time, so I wouldn't need to rush.

well, why is it unfair! My school is very big! I have the 1st lunch which is right after 2nd period! My third period is on the complete oposssite of the school compared to my locker! I am the last one to be dismissed from lunch,(cafeteria is equal distance from my locker and from my 3rd period!) I always go to my locker, talk to my friend and then go to class and I have about 2 more minutes until the bell rings. This is plenty of time for me! And high schoolers should have about the same amount of time, if you consider that they can carry their backpack nad the school is bigger!

my school has what every school has fire doors the shorten the width of the hallway so we have the 8th graders in on the one side then the rest of the kids on the other. we have to wait some time to get trough so what then!!!!!!

talk to your school about your concerns! Backpacks sound like a logical solution!

you should fight for your rights as students, as long as you do it formally, and respectablly with a good case and they'll listen!

i think we do have enough time, but like many said, its those who abuse the time and walk slowly conversating with friends that holds up everyone who cares about getting to class on time.

There is also congestion in the hallways some schools do not have enough scape for all of the students in the halls at once. A reduction of people postin up and talkin would help alot. (Dr. Patrick an adminstrator like to break up these gorups and it helps)

If you have a respectful attitude then they will listen if you try! If you have a respectful attidude and they atill don't listen.....well that is highly unlikely I think!

TO day in school I looked at the people talking and walikng slow and saw the effect it has on the time it take to go to class. Students lingering have a major impact on the time it takes to get to class.

I wish we can just get more time. I mean "Come On!" Who can get their stuff together in 4 minutes and be in class on time. We can go to our locker between classes, but it's a pain when you have to go from one side of the school to another.

I agree with DrewT! The people who are late a majority of the time at my school are people lingering in the hall! If they walk with their friends and talk they won't get to class on time! I walk my friend to class on the other side of the school and get to my class on time always!

at my school we get 5minutes which to alot of people is a long time...but even when we have those 5minutes are teachers yell at us for being the halll, talking to our friends,going to the bathroom and getting a drink...

In my school there is a hall for each grade and the classes we take are in that hall usually,but getting to our lockers, putting our stuff in, an dgetting to our class takes longer than 4 minutes. Plus our school does not have a late bell. So it's up to the teachers if we are late. :idea: so why don't we increase the time between classesto 6minutes

I never talk to my friend in the hall and there's not enough time to go to my locker between class so I carry it all around

At George Fox , The teachers in my school have very strict new rules , where you can only walk on the right side of the hallway . And with every student in your grade trying to open their lockers , and walk through , you either get pushed or trip over kids stuff .

Also , if you are more than 6-10 minutes late to class , the teachers don't have to let you in . When you come to class late without a pass , most teachers make you either go get a pass , or sit in the hallway .

And .. on top of that , you can't go to the bathroom in the first or last 15 minutes of a class , or at the end of the day , because they are locked , and some teachers don't let you go at all. So you have to go during the break , leaving literally no time to get to your locker and back to your classroom .
