BACKPACKS ?!?!?
Hey everyone! The middle school council had a disscussion on the usage of backpacks in middle school. Currently backpacks are not alowed in all but one school in aac. The council, on a 7-1 vote, decided stand for backpacks in middle schools, but we can't do it alone! Your opinion is needed if we want a well rounded opinion! Do you belive that backpacks should be allowed in middle schools?

backpacks
i do believe you deserve the right in a public school to use drawstring backpacks.i don't see any reason why the schools feel the need to limit the times we can go to our locker and backpacks would be a better solution to locker restrictions again i support this bill 100%
p.s. the bill has been named "no supplies left behind"
Backpacks
I do agree with backpacks .
Currently in our school, due to a fight last Friday, we are now being walked to and from lunch each day.
Apparently this is to reduce the amount of time spent in the hallways after lunch. I don't personally support this , but as it is supposedly for our safety and it doesn't truly affect the amount of time we have to eat , I am fine with it.
For my school, If we were able to have backpacks containing our supplies , the transisition time would be cut even more , students would need less time to go to and from various classes and it reduces the amount of things students have to carry.
Now, from the county's standpoint, I know that a major issue with backpacks is weapons , but seeing how many many females carry purses each day that could just as easily contain a concealed weapon, that seems as though it is an unfair point to make .
In addition, some teachers already allow students to bring backpacks to their class. Most of them are aware of the difficulty of having to cross school, stop at your locker, and then make it to your bus on time. So, you cannot say space is an issue because they are put away in the back of those classrooms until it is time to leave at the end of the day. Given both of my classes that allow backpacks are my end of the day classes, meaning encores, they still have plenty of move to manuver around and teach normally.
Maybe even if students were just allowed to bring them to their last block class, that would be a great improvement for students.

Ok this was like a really big
Ok this was like a really big problem at my school recently this whole "bookbags". We came up with the solution that you can have them in class but the teacher gets to tell you if you can have it beside you. Most teachers have a spot in the front of the room where all your backpacks, purses, etc. can go but I don't know why it is such a problem as long as they aren't causing a distraction.
backpacks
i go to crofton middle, and we have rli bad crowding in the hallways because of 4 ft thick walls of ppl using their lockers in addition to 2 way traffic. if kids were allowed to use backpacks, ppl wuldnt need to go to their lockers as much=less crowding in the hallways=less incidents in the hallways=more students getting to class on time with all their stuff
Backpacks
I don't think kids should be able to use backpacks. They would take up a LOT of room in classrooms. I feel we should be able to carry smaller bags, like the drawstring ones.

book bags
if you ask mark ritterpusch, his old middle school has implemented a drawstring bag piolt program and it has worked well.
Maybe
I think that messanger bags would be good, but old fashion backpacks might be disruptive.
i love messenger bags! but i
i love messenger bags!
