Spare me, the lunch prices are fine in my perspective. In fact, I am willing to pay more to get a nice, healthy meal. I'll post more, such a proposal, on this at a later time... like after I get this silly AP work done :roll:

Yes I would be in favor of the lunch price for a nice healthy meal! But the food is not that good for you! At least at my school it isn't! That food isn't even worth $1.50

as a vegetarian, i have issues finding things i want to eat off the regular menu, even in high school with 4 lines to pick from, and i generally end up having to eat something like chips. and i have friends who are vegan, who have to bring lunch becuase there is absolutely nothing for them. all the processed food we're being fed really isn't healthy or tasty, and could be contributing to the childhood obesity epidemic.

in health class, we watched a video about this school that was for troubled youth. but, they had really nice organic lunches with lots of healthy options and vegetables that are green instead of sickly yellow. AND it only cost slightly more than the regular government food. this was at a school for kids who got into fights a lot, and after they put in this organic food, the fights went down.
i wish i knew the company that ran it, but i think this is something the school board really should look into.

Um, i think you need to be a little more open to other people. The school should provide meals to every student, and if some are vegetarian the school should give students that option. The school shoudl also provide and encourage healthy meals; you shouldnt need to bring a lunch to school to stay healthy!

At my school, it costs less to buy a fattening, sugar fileld lunch of pizza and a Hawaiian Punch then to buy a salad and water bottle! The administartaors pin up tons of posters saying 'make healthy choices' and then charge us more for them? that doesnt seem right! :?

I agree with M sinnott it does cost more for an unhealthy lunch then to buy a super pizza and junk like that and this could become a problem but, the price of the lunch is used to pay the people who work in the cafeteria so price is not going to go down especially if the go on strike or demand more because believe me would you like to work about an hour and a half to 2 hours doing nuthing but serving lunch to us. But, try to be curtious and thank your lunch lady or man every once in a while show them they're appreciated

I agree w/ "m sinnot" (lol) 2, most of america is overweight for reasons like this. Stopping by a McDonald's, you'll here "do u wanna supersize that?" "would u like 2 try a combo meal?" etc. ppl r always grabbing on the go and what they get is fattening, unhealthy food, and every1 is 2 busy on the comp,watching tv or playing video games to get exercise. Schools have adressed only 1/2 of that issue. We're forced to be in PE, but who cares about lunch? Nothing healthy worth eating is even there, the little that is offered is way over-priced. I cant even count how many times I've started 2 order like a salad or carrots or an apple, then noticing a mysterious brown spot covering 1/2 the apple, or that the carrots were more green than orange, put it back.I really think that we need to have healthy, safe food to eat at a resonable price.

You don't get enough food for your money and it is not that healthy for you. Have you ever seen the pizza drip with grease. That is totally unacceptable. But it is what we have. For $2.00 a pop we should get more food of better quality.

Like I remember in elementry school we at least had a basic salad!

Today I even looked and asked there were no salads in the lunches.

At Old mill, the salad that are available are often wilted, but most of the time they arent even there.

DaY 2 AT OLD MILL: I saw no salads today although I had D lunch this time and didn't ask anyone not even lunch ladies.

Well I would like to try to find a way to somehow get outside food, such as subway into school cafeterias. I think that would be great because not only does the food taste great but subway is very healthy.

Not good ones. Not ones that you want to buy. Why can't the school just have food that we want to buy? If the issue is the deal with the food company, then I say that we make a new deal.

How would the school system and the the company make money. The schools make money off of the luches why do you think they raise the prices all the time. It would be a losing situation. If there was a middle ground brokered the school would lose revenue and would possibly have to pay the chain. While the chain wouldn't turn a profit.

I'm not asking to have a chain in our cafeteria. That topic is dead. But, I am wondering why they provide us such bad food. Some schools around the nation are getting healthier choices for lunch that are as healthy homemade meals (says so on a t.v. program). Why can't our school do that?

The lucnhes are pretty greasy at time but they are still nutritional.

The other day my lunch table was called and just as most of them sat down it was time to clean up I think we should get longer lunch time or at least a better system!!!

Me too. We need more time to eat! The problem is, if we lengthen the lunch-time, then we have to lengthen the school day or the school year. :cry:

these school lunches suck i pay 3.00 bucks for crap and i believe we should be able to leave campus for eating and we only get 20 min each lunch it is not good kids need there food especially me health isn't everything Ive eaten a lot of fast food and haven't gained one pound

Lunch prices do keep going up! My mom stopped letting me buy lunch because I have 3 brothers and it would be 10 dollars a day for everyone to buy lunch. It doesn't bother me as much as other people becuase I pack my lunch everyday, but I think lunch prices are really high, espechially if you don't eat all the food.
