Equestrian Team?
I go to Southern High and we have a ton of horse-riders here. Many of us wish that there was a school-sponsored (though not school-funded) equestrian team. There is a team losely offiliated with the school, but it is very expensive and out-of-the-way with far away shows and high coaching fees. A few of us have considered implementing a school team that meets regularly at a local barn and competes at local shows, hiring a relatively inexpensive instructor for weekly group lessons (whether it would be bring your own horse or otherwise is undecided).
This way Southern equestrians could get the experience of riding on a team without the extreme expense often associated with it.
Has anyone done anything similar to this at thier school? Maybe developing a new club or starting a novel organization? Any success or failure stories would be helpful to see if this is something actually worth pursuing.
Thanks and happy summer!

Re: Equestrian Team?
Do you have a potential advisor?
i don't think SPHS has anything like this, but it sounds like a fun thing to start!
Re: Equestrian Team?
No, not here, I think that if we did this we would have to bring in an outside advisor. Is that possible for the club to still be a school-sponsored activity? I would most likely not get a teacher to advise, we can't even get a teacher to lead NHS or SGA with the budget cuts and such. All our teachers are too pissed off to take on any extra work.
