Future of CRASC
(chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils)Where is CRASC Going? As of now NOWHERE. The Reason Being is that CRASC has no future elected president. The president is essential for crasc so that the president can lead the students in the right direction. The reason that there is no elected president is one of the board members in attendance pursuaded the delegates in attendnce not to vote for any of the candidates so that there would be a vote of no confidence. Meaning if 1/2 of the students or the majority did not vote for either of the candidates then no one would win. That is what happened.
Cons:There is no leader to guide this organization.
The organzation can not get a head start on next year
The newly elected 1st vice president can not appoint the president until another General assembly is in order and this years term must expire. the next general assembly isn't until next year because camp letts or transitionals has been canceled due to the board meeting.

Re: Future of CRASC
I would like to thank you for starting this topic. I agree that there is a serious problem with CRASC (though we do now have a president, so that is no longer the problem).
When I first joined CRASC it was a very different organization than it is now. It was just becoming stable again, and was brought back to life by dedicated, competant, and experienced leaders, and finally started improving under the consistent leadership of a new advisor. People were motivated to help, and students from all over the county volunteered whether or not they were officers.
I have been quite disturbed watching what has happened to CRASC this year, both watching it deteriorate throughout the year, and culminating in the disastrous election and cancellation of six flags. Offices were barely contested, and most applicants were significantly younger than sophomores or juniors, and usually officers have been almost entirely made up of seniors (except the middle school officer, of course). There was very little content based answering, speeches were of an unusually low quality, and candidates had little to no experience.
We missed camp letts this year, where we supposedly train future leaders, this website is not active, and even our annual events are falling apart due to low participation, including the credibility of elections due to poor turnout.
I am very worried about where CRASC is going because I don't see any people entering with experience or vision necessary to maintaining or improving this organization.
Please let me know what you think, and how you think we can turn this fall around
Re: Future of CRASC
Ok well where to start...
CRASC Elections- Was not the best of our general assemblies. I did too notice that there was many unqualified, inexperienced, candidates. Also again I did also see very low amounts of candidates contesting the offices. What CRASC should strive to do is to educate the student body about what our CRASC officers are elected to do. Whether through workshops or deminstration. And to encourage all qualified persons to run and encourage all advisors to search for potential candidates.
Camp Letts- Very disappointing to have this great asset to CRASC be takin away but I do not understand what you mean by "supposedly train future leaders." Because it is my belief that we do in fact train the students into future leaders. Although we do have some issues with how our workshops are taught such as minor student behavior. We do have something to build on and there is a way to fix it. I am just not sure how just yet. But together we can fix the problem.
CRASC does have abumpy road ahead of itself but we can get past it. Please for CRASC post back so we can turn CRASC back to what it once was.
Re: Future of CRASC
CRASC is and always will be a council for students and by students. We need to put up our mark, why are we here? To be the student voice. How are we doing this talking? NO we as an oganazation need to act and that can be accoplished by eliminating the apathy and becoming more of a family, and working together. Sure the people who come to the exect-staff r involed but whos thatlike a tenth of our population? Board Meeting petitions legeslation anything i know there are SOOO many ideas out there its getting them across and having them herd.
ps.. kyle hows ur back
