Rules on using laptops in school.
Last year I brought my laptop to class and a teacher was telling me to put it away b/c it's an electronic device. I couldn't argue with her b/c, to my knowledge, there aren't any specific rules for laptops - only electronic devices in general. Of course the security (anti-theft), like all other personal possessions, would be solely my responsibility. I figured since im taking college level courses (AP) I should be allowed to use college tools. With the AP courses im taking, allowing the use of a laptop would be very instrumental.
:eusadancing: Benefits :eusadancing:
-take notes in a breeze
-consolidate written assignments
-study easier (access to internet)
-can e-mail assignments as soon as they're done
-help transition from high school to college
(all I can think of for now)
Possible :eusashifty: Rules :eusashifty:
-stay on task
-no games
-no social sites (myspace, facebook, etc...)
Basically, it's to be used when necessary.
What do you think?
 Should using a laptop in school be considered the same as using a cell phone (CD player, Ipod, etc...)?

Re: Rules on using laptops in school.
i think you're absolutely right...i'm starting ap this year and i think having college tools in college classes is fair enough...i can see how it would cause somewhat of a distraction and even though the school isn't liable they may see it as your parents trying to blame them if somethin happens to it and all that..but i do think they should be allowed.
Re: Rules on using laptops in school.
i agree as well. as long there was no internet access it is easier and more efficient to take notes that way. I mean the only problem i can think of is internet access(which is easy to monitor) and just plainly doing other things and getting distracted and that can be done without a computer. Laptops can only help. :eusaclap:

I don't find it fair because not all kids can afford laptops and because this is a public school, nobody should have any significant advantage over another student such as using these tools.
